Storage Capacity Planner/Team Leader for Open Systems

Primary objective of this role is to perform SAN capacity planning and improve overall storage forecasting and capacity management for open systems including NAS and tape. In addition, this individual will act as a Team Leader over staff of 2 3 responsible for storage reporting.

This staff addition is required to supplement team's skills and assist with (1) DR/Data Center transition/transformation activities scheduled for 2008 and (2) storage capacity planning and reporting (metric used for billing and customer chargeback). In addition, this individual will take a role of a Team Leader and develop an integrated approach to storage capacity planning comprised of SAN, NAS, DASD and tape.

The incumbents responsibilities will include:
-Perform open systems storage, and related infrastructure, capacity planning and utilization reporting.
-Perform storage performance monitoring and analysis activities, identify and resolve bottlenecks.
-Respond to storage incidents and service requests.
-Maintain Data Model of historical information and provide monthly and quarterly resource usage statistics for the Storage Subsystems.
-Analyze and minimize the Storage consumption of major application workloads.
-Respond to customer requests for system performance improvements by identifying storage bottlenecks and, depending on the nature of a problem, either effect the appropriate system change or provide recommendations for application changes to minimize circumvent or resolve problems.
-Participate, as required, in activities associated with Storage Performance and Capacity; participate in technology directions for Mainframe Storage, Storage Area Network (SAN), and Network Area Storage (SAN), providing recommendations, as appropriate.
-Participate in and provide support for projects requiring Storage Performance and Capacity Planning expertise such as in-source of new workloads, workload recovery and redistribution. Make available, in a timely manner, the processing capacity necessary to deliver the required performance levels.
-Install, implement and perform problem resolution for performance tools. Work with volume management software.
-Provide the consultation services and performance statistics required by the customers as input to their decision-making processes for both near-term activities and future technical direction.
-Produce reports on variety of topics. (I.e. external audits of resource utilization).
-Provide input, as required, to monthly Capacity reporting, trending, and forecasting.
